Abstract In this study, the properties of concrete mixed with activated hwang-toh (AH) only or AH and ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) together were evaluated in order to reduce the consumption of cement. Main variables were AH having the replacement level of 10%, 20%, and 30%, and GGBS as well as average curing temperature of 25℃ and 10℃. Test results indicated that the mechanical properties of concrete improved to extend of AH replacement level of 20%. However, elastic modulus and bonding strength of concrete having AH replacement level of 30% rapidly dropped compared to normal concrete. Curing temperature significantly affected the compressive strength of concrete with AH only or AH and GGBS together. Inelastic strain of concrete mixed with AT is lower than those predicted by the ACI 209 method, indicating that the inelastic behavior of concrete with AT is slightly conservative with respect to the ACI 209.
