Abstract |
This paper presents experimental results of eleven reinforced concrete (RC) beams strengthened with carbon fiber sheets (CFS). This investigation is to study the effect of CFS end anchorage on the flexural behavior of RC beams strengthened with CFS and to examine how such end anchorage affects strength, deflection, flexural strain, and interfacial shear stress. The major experimental parameter is anchorage types at beam both ends. The test results show that the premature debonding failure of RC strengthened beams with CFS having epoxy mortar patch anchorage can be delayed or prevented for the enhancement of flexural performance. The distribution of the interfacial shear stress along the beam may vary due to end anchorage of externally bonded CFS. Thus, a new analytical model is demanded to predict failure load of the present test results. The anchorage of epoxy mortar patch is considerably effective to delay or to prevent the premature delaminating failure |
