A Study on the Facade of Modern Architecture through the theory of Dom-Ino |
Abstract |
This study aims to understand the shifting pattern of form and design approach of facade in modern architecture. The study addresses the principles of such facade design characterized implicitly by Le Corbusier's system Dom-ino. This facade often labeled as "in-between space," is transient space defined by the layout and materials of interior and exterior of building. Yet, the form of the space is increasingly determined by the horizontal plane, rather than by the vertical elements of building. The study concludes that the transformation of the modern facade began to take a definitive building form that influence modern architectural tectonics. |
