Abstract |
TACT is a scheduling method that synchronizes tasks and maintains continuous work flow to lessen waste of them. TACT is first developed and applied to the manufacturing industry, then applied to the construction industry. However, some problems are found applying TACT to the construction projects practically. First, unreasonable synchronization of tasks results in productivity loss. Second, uncertainty of each task is not considered. Third, delay of each task impacts the project duration directly in the absence of buffers between tasks. Fourth, it is difficult to control TACT in the multiple projects because control items of them are dispersed to each task level. To solve these problems, it is suggested to apply main idea of Theory of Constraints (TOC) to TACT. Reasonable synchronization of tasks and buffers between tasks are considered by classifying uncertainties into three groups to estimate critical time of each task. Through rescheduling of TACT plan by using critical time, practical consideration of constraints is implemented. And multiple projects can be easily managed using proper use of buffers between tasks. This methodology is called as T-TACT. To verify this methodology, a case example is illustrated. Through the case example, T-TACT is verified to enhance contemporaneous TACT in the points of solving the problems. |
