Abstract The fishing village and the housing form are directly influenced by the natural elements. This study focused on these facts. The aim of this study is to examine the spatial structure and housing characteristics of Kamiosawa village in Wajima city Isikawa pref., Japan through field studies and residential interviewing. The results of this study are as follow. First, the village and the housing form are considered by the influence of such as one of the natural elements. And it considered for housing to be safe and comfortable by minimizing climatic influences. Second, the Magaki blocks a strong wind of the Japan Sea. It overcomes natural environment. Also, it is expression of life which is symbiosis of human being and nature by climatic controls.
