Abstract The paper is to analyse how to reflect irrational and private experience or opinion that is the autobiographical memory of Aldo Rossi as Rationalist, in his architecture. First it searches through A Scientific Autobiography as a basic text how his personal experience and sensation are expressed in his drawings and influence his architectural design. And then it analyses his total architecture idea which covers the back of his rationalism and compositional contents of his architecture. The influence in the architectural form by his private experiences appears in a various way on the foundation of his architectural world. Especially in this paper it can be divided into 'Sense of stasis', 'repetition', 'happiness', 'mythical transcendence' and 'reciprocity of sight'. As a result private and subjective emotions have a deeper influence on his architecture than a logical and rational system. And irrational and personal taste is represented in the form of rational and universal language of architecture. In this sense Rossi's architecture seems ambivalent, that is characteristic of post modern, beyond the simple composition of two different properties.
