| Abstract |
This study aims to examine the way in which photographs of houses in magazines represent houses, since magazines are one of major channel to connect individual houses with the public including professionals and the mass as well. Not only the professional architectural magazine but also women's magazine produce discourses which exercise huge influences on the public's understanding of the housings.
After examining the different ways of representation of photographs of houses in the articles of architectural magazine and womens' magazine, serious discrepancies have been noticed in both form and content of the photographs. Furthermore, both photographs in two kind of magazines are found to fail to deliver the definition of 'house is the vessel for living'. |
