Abstract Recently, there has been an issue on the importance of using a high-efficiency electrical machinery to reduce an amount of electricity consumption. Especially, in Korea, it is more important to use a high efficiency pump system since 20% of gross domestic electricity consumption has been used to operate pump systems. However, an effort to decrease the cost of electricity energy by using a high efficiency booster pump has not been enough yet. Also, due to the lack of understanding of maintenance management, the economic analysis study of the high efficiency pump system has been conspicuously slow.
Therefore, this paper compares the economic efficiency of a high efficiency booster pump with that of a general booster pump and also analyzes the electric energy saving of both pump system through life cycle cost analysis (LCCA) techniques.
