Abstract |
Many reinforced concrete(RC) structures designed without seismic provisions have experienced brittle shear failures in the beam-column joint area, and resulted in large permanent deformations and structural collapse. In this reason, effective and economical rehabilitation techniques for beam-column joints are required. The present paper describes the seismic retrofit method for RC beam-column joints by using carbon fiber reinforced plastics(CFRP). An analytical model based on the nonlinear finite element method is adopted to investigate the behavior of CFRP-strengthened RC beam-column joints subjected to cyclic loading. The proposed analytical model is compared with a series of test results and found to be reasonably accurate in predicating the structural behavior of CFRP-strengthened beam-column joints. |
