Abstract This study focuses on the extraction of the characteristics for domain changes and re-composition according to the privacy and living behavior which reflect Korean consciousness at high-rise apartment of contemporary city. Pursuing the essence of habitation protects the living space to be wasted and constructs the sustainable optimum space which maximize efficiency. To make the independent space of balcony area is a kind of privacy control mechanism in korean life style, and it makes the openness of family stronger and supports to maintain family relationship from outside. A unit floor plan is required to openness and community of family in family space, and if each family member secures his minimum private space, the flexibility of each space remain with relationship of family members. So, it is more important to secure the household unit privacy rather than the individual privacy.
