Abstract |
The apartment remodeling in Korea began in the early 2000, which were mainly conducted in the aspect of improving deteriorated equipments and finishings in the earlier times. With the government’s real estate policy to restrain apartment reconstruction, recent remodeling projects have come to focus on plan addition in order to overcome the old fashioned plan configurations and the limited floor area. In this respect of the rising demands on apartment addition, it is intended in this study to establish the representative plan addition types which can be applied to plan and structural design in remodeling, and developing techniques in structure reinforcement and equipment performance. The research method is to collect and inspect the data on the apartment remodeling projects completed or in a planning stage in Seoul Metropolitan area since 2001, and to draw out and structuralize the detailed remodeling plan elements through the analysis. From the extracted planning elements, the four main addition types were drawn, which on the level of unit plan are the combining of units and the unit extension, and on the level of public area in apartment building the core extension and the vertical extension. These four addition types were classified into the subordinate categories as well, and the respective characteristics and detailed elements of them were examined. From the case study the unit extension type was proved to be the most frequently executed remodeling type of all the categorized addition types. |
