Abstract Giving a meaning in a form or object through the behavior of symbol, humans make the object be transformed symbol. Symbols are represented by language, art, religion and myth. For this reason, organization related to each other in them makes symbolic world of human concretely. Therefore, meeting the symbolic world consciously or unconsciously through behavior of symbol humans are living in the life. After the world war 1, the architecture of expressionism used symbolic elements to represent the meaning and represent the intention harmonizing with characteristic of religion. This characteristic of expression is represented in German architecture because German invested the church architecture in interior and exterior to rescue uncertainty according to defeat. In the end, looking the flow of time, we can see that many symbols are used to reinforce good relation between God & believers. This paper studied German church architecture representing very well the these characteristic and studied on the meaning of symbols in modern church architecture by analyzing the meaning and characteristic through images which come to the bible and design concept.
