Title A Study on the Planning Directions of Residential Facilities for the Elderly from the Viewpoints of Relocation

Abstract This study aims to consider planning directions of residential facilities focused on the viewpoints of relocation of the elderly. The following approach was performed by picking out and analyzing 15 research cases(22 papers) about relocation to residential facilities for the elderly in Japan. The main items of analysis can be categorized into residents characteristics, relocation process, relocation causes and effects. According to the analysis results, in the part of residents characteristics, there were elderly women(68.7%), elderly aged 75 and over(56.1%) and dependency-elderly(58.2%). As to the relocation process, facility information, decision for relocation, preparatory period of relocation and route of relocation were considered, and they showed the great differences from each facility(regions). The causes of relocation to facilities can be divided into six problems which were psychology, physicalness, care, family, house and economic. Lastly, it is cleared that the differences about residents characteristics or relocation process effect on physical condition or facility-life after the relocation.
