Abstract The nature of the construction project involves complicated and complex processes. Specially, supply and control of construction materials usually require complex managerial works.
In this research, an innovative method for real-time material management using RFID technology is introduced. The RFID technology is known as the convenient replacement of current bar-code system for better code recognition and data control.
In this research, re-bar management through RFID tags and automatic data collection (ADC) is investigated.
The findings from this work are: (1) label type tags are more easily recognized than metal type tags; (2) circular type antenna works better than linear type antenna; (3) and the height of the antenna location should be same height to the tag location for better data capturing. This research presents the possibility of using metal tags for re-bar management and the results of this research provide the basis of re-bar management system at construction site.
