Abstract A boundary of territory between public and private in contemporary residence is one of the most important elements, which decide architectures and cities. Contemporary society has crumbled the boundary between public territory and individual territory in a way to fill urban public space which individual space, prescribed private territory to be called a household, executed the role of public territory. In addition, the public spaces between multistory buildings in contemporary city have become a way for passage, and it is expressed the death of the public space. Therefore, the basic assumptions of existing, planning method, which establish hierarchy of public territory and private territory as focusing on the public space and concentrating residential community on axis of pedestrian or open space, should be reconsidered. Thus, this study suggests the relationship between group dwelling and public space as in a different way through the movement of formative method in contemporary masshousing, which publicity changed. Reorganization of urban spatial structure is proceeding through the residential welfare and housing policies, and the urban renewing project. In this way, the changes of public feature in contemporary residential planning define feature of the residential community how to indicate and analyze correspondence principle between public space and residence. The territory includes the nomadic feature, movements will be able to regard a new element, which contemporary urban structure should have.
