| Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to find modern cognition of residence through discussion for improvement of living in the age of civilization, through analyzing academic journals published by academic institutes at that time. The discussion began from a cognition of modern hygiene and extended to the sanitation for preventing contagious disease. The Civilized intellectuals cognized necessity of improving people's living through process of scientific thinking. The discussion for improving houses began from a cognition which the sanitation of housing was affected by choice of dwelling site. They discussed arrangement of houses form a cognition of hygiene for housewives and her children. The cognition of modern building materials remained at phenomenal aspect. And On-Dol was cognized as a target which would be researched and improved.
The Civilized intellectuals considered improvement of housing to improve physical properties of house for sanitation without an architectural concept at that time. |
