Abstract This study offers an experimental framework on the predictive analysis of pedestrian circulation systems within huge multi-complex buildings. Among the numerous factors that need to be considered during the designing process of multi-complex buildings, the significant importance of circulation efficiency can never be overlooked, for the nature of circulation within these buildings are arbitrary. Previous studies have pointed out the possibility of the use of the Visibility ERAM model to predict circulation patterns. This study applies the Visibility ERAM model to two winning entries for the Asian Culture Complex project competition, thus evaluating their circulation systems in an objective and quantitative manner. Based on the Visibility ERAM analysis, this study examines the strengths and weak points of the schemes, and proposes how to improve them in the aspect of pedestrian circulation planning.
