Abstract The purpose of this study was to examine the current daycare facilities space and interior conditions of child care center. And suggest architecture and interior planning guide line of child care center. Data were collected through questionnaire survey including observations and interviews. The sample consisted of 92 child care center.
The major findings were as follows :
1. The younger children's activity rooms are located in the lower level, and the activity room of children on the similar development stages are located adjacent to one another.
2. Most of the facilities do not have the public spaces(indoor playrooms, dinning rooms, napping rooms, bathrooms, sickrooms) For dinning and napping, activity rooms are being used, and for sickrooms, director's room or staff room.
3. As for the correlations of the spaces(home bases, activity rooms and its outdoor spaces, day-care-centers and community), closed plan type is 90% over, and modified open plan is 10% min.
4. Most of child care center are not in the desirable interior environment. To enhance the quality of child care center, the physical interior environment of child care center should influence on the development of child
5. Functional spaces should be organized to support the child behavior. Muiti purposed room should be provide to encourage and adapt to variety or large-muscle activities.
6. The design child care center should be emphasized to satisfy teachers and children who are directed user.
7. Furniture should be designed to meet the functions of flexibility, mobility, and security.
