Abstract The equipments for water supply and distribution are the most basic and important facilities among the building services. This study investigated the current water usage in several type of buildings and aims to suggest a more realistic standard for the design of water supply facilities in buildings. In order to this, water usages of residential building, apartments, schools and office buildings in the urban area have been investigated, and the water use amounts were analysed depending on the type of buildings, seasons and the effective area of the buildings.
Also, water usages in buildings have been analyzed statistically and used to suggest regression formula which are more rational and economical in calculation of the water supply amount of buildings. Thus, a more reliable method of predicting the water supply amount in the buildings could be possible using the surveyed data of the present study.
