Abstract |
The term 'cost reduction', in general, poses a negative image in the domestic construction market. It is mainly because many cost reduction plans tend to strike a blow to other management elements and simply adopt methods for cost reduction in a negative way. The construction market requires a shift from negative cost reduction to creative cost reduction that maintains other management elements, such as time and quality. However, strategies and achievements of creative cost reduction have been under-researched. The objective of this research is to investigate the characteristics of the strategies and achievements of creative cost reduction by the review of case studies. One hundred twenty four case studies from Constructing Excellence in the UK were reviewed and analyzed to fulfill this research objective. |
