Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to analyse the formative meanings of urban architecture, using the office buildings located in Daegu, Korea. To achieve the purpose, this study was carried out by categorizing the subject buildings within the formative analysis framework and then examining the differences in the formative meanings between individual categories. The number of structures used for this study was limited to 39 office buildings located along roads in downtown Daegu. Their pictures were taken for slide films and used as an evaluation means. Thirty adjective vocabularies having formative meanings were selected as the evaluation tool for this study, and were organized using the 5-step meaning analysis scale classified into a pair of adjectives. There were 107 participants in this study, consisting of 34 experts, 37 adults and 36 students. The pictures of the subject buildings were taken from September 23 to 25, 2005. Statistically significant results were obtained when the data were analysed using SPSS version 12.0 for Windows. |
