Abstract This paper reports that ground granulated blast furnace slag, industrial wastes, is mainly used for secondary product of concrete mixed without cement. Furthermore the method of the atmospheric steam curing was conducted to increase initial strength and to do early stripping. According to the ratio of water/binder and the different quantities of added activator, the absorptivity and the property of hardening strength of AAS mortar were analyzed. Moreover, this paper reports the basic date on the practical secondary product of concrete contained AAS by analyzing of the chloride penetration property of the OPC mortar and AAS mortar in chloride penetration test, respectively. As a result, the hardened specimens contained AAS are possible to use for concrete bricks, hollow concrete blocks, concrete spacers, and concrete interlocking blocks of side walk and road. However chloride penetration was limited to surface in AAS mortar used ground granulated blast furnace slag. It is necessary to experiment the relation of the quantity of chloride according to the penetration depth. Moreover, any experiments to invest durability such as freezing & thawing and abrasion resistance should be needed by making practical products.
