Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of Diller + Scofidio' works, which expressed great similarity with that of Situationist International. The analysis were carried out through juxtaposition, a direct usage of the consumerism, d'etournement, against spectalce, unitary urbanism, surveillance, d'erive, and phyco-geographic method. Those details of the analysis were gained from analyzing a variety of primary sources, such as magazines , books, critiques. The results of this study are as follows; The methods, those particularity used by Diller + Scofidio, bear great similiarity to those of the situationist International. Also, looking back on the origin and the period of the Situationist International , we can begin to see a more refined and standardized process of contemporary design with a vast amount of architechtural values. Diller + Scofido's works encompasses such values , compared with Situationist International, which emerged around the 1930's when Modernism began to standardize architectural formations; a style set in stone. |
