Abstract Due to increasing number of Large-scale Discount Store, the relative industry is involved in fierce competition and consumers' awareness is growing. These factors shed light on the importance of interior design. In this sense, interior design of 15 Large-scale Discount Stores in Daegu were researched. Additionally, the survey of consumer on their preference and the image of market's were conducted in order to drawing out the relevant results that were compared and analyzed. And the results of study are followed : the most proffered pattern compositions of food area are an exposed ceiling with scattered pattern floor at sales and display areas, and there is a preferred aisle floor using by liner pattern which defines the areas of sales and aisle, the most preferred pattern compositions of non-food area are an in direct-lighting on the exposed ceiling with non-patterned floor and a typical. Act or soffit ceiling with a composit pattern floor at sales and display areas. The pattern function at the aisle of non-food area is same as the food area but composit pattern floors.
These results show that consumers have different preference and image by each zone, which is different from current interior design status of Large-scale Discount Stores. In this regard, this research is aimed at providing basic data which can help the Large-scale Discount Store to make meeting the demands of consumers when those are planned for the interior design.
