Abstract In this study, structure of residence consciousness were analyzed by questionnaire to develop continuable Korean-traditional-house for this present and future. This study set up Jeonlanamdo and Gwang-ju city as the range of area. For this study 728 questionaries were distributed and analyzed.
The content of this study is largely composed of five parts; First, general understanding about Korea-traditional-house. Second, an intention to build Korean-traditional-house. Third, building cost and things need to be improved. Forth, constructive of Korean-traditional-house complex. Finally, a policy for propagations of Korean-traditional-house.
The result of this study is as following.
1. Korean traditional house will be continuable residence in the future if some convenience(rest room, kitchen, etc.) can be improved. Especially, many respondents showed very good image of Daecheong and Toitmaru.
2. Many respondents showed their intention to build Korean traditional house if the construction cost is not so expensive compared with modernhouse.
3. Many prefer suburban residence complex which is located at a distance of 10 to 20 minutes by car from downtown rather than a house which is separately one from one in the downtown.
4. More than half of the respondents report that local self-governing body should promote actively propagation of Korean traditional house.
