Abstract Today‘s rapid development of information technology and industrialization leads to the increased income level and quality of life, thus impacting overflowing visual information and the theory of interior design. Professional interior designers have had hard difficulty to meet the level of clients' expectations which have been increased by various experiences and rich information available to clients. The objective of this study is to compare and analyze the level of perception of apartment residents in visual and terminological preferences of interior design style. Extensive survey was conducted to find the residents' preference in image using visual materials and in terminology. Major findings are as follows: Firstly, the life styles of respondents have been grouped into 4 different types. Secondly, over 50 % of respondents indicated a different perception from interior designer about interior design styles by residents' life style. Thirdly, level of perception by Interior design style was found to be that it was continuous with marital status and the age. Finally, the study suggests that interior designers need to develop appropriate manuals at the initial stage of interior design process for the communication of various age group which consist of user information.
