Abstract This paper covers the test results to confirm mechanical properties for outermost lamina of structural glued-laminated timber. Included are the load and displacement curves for compression, tension and bending parallel to the grain and compression perpendicular to the grain, modulus of elasticity, and failure modes. Also included are moisture content and specific gravity. Moisture content was measured after the test. The compression-parallel-to-grain tests and the compression-perpendicular-to-grain tests be made on 20x20x60(mm) specimens and 25x50x150(mm) specimens by KS F 2206. Special care need in preparing the compression-parallel-to grain test specimens to ensure that end grain surfaces be parallel to each other. And, the tension-parallel-to-grain test made on specimens of the size and shape by KS F 2207. In the tension specimen, critical section 5mm thickness and 30mm width. Finally, the static bending tests be made on 25mm by 25mm by 500mm specimens by KS F 2206. The actual height and width at the center and the length are measured in all specimens. The main parameter are the mechanical grades(E14, E12, E11) and wooden types(needle leaf tree, larch). The modulus of elasticity and stress of specimens are higher than a standard value of the outermost lamina of structural glued-laminated timber. By the method of installing cap to the upper and lower sides of compression-parallel-to-grain, the test was able to examine effectively.
