Abstract As the interest for LOHAS and environment-friendly building materials rises, the preference for earth house(earth construction) gradually increases. However, there are few data for predicting and evaluating the indoor air quality of earth house. Thus, this study aims to measure indoor air pollutants(formaldehyde, volatile organic compounds and radon) emission intensities of present main earth construction materials and make a comparison between earth and cement construction materials. Indoor air pollutants emission intensities in scaled models are measured and analyzed, and the emission test is done in accordance with the small chamber method. As results, quantitative indoor air pollutants emission intensities of present main earth construction materials are shown. Both earth and cement construction materials are found to be the first grade in consequence of the indoor air pollutants emission test.
