Abstract There are two hipped and gable roof buildings built in Kory? Dynasty and early Chos?n Dynasty. One is Daeungj?n Hall of Pongj?ngsa Temple, the other is Muryangsujeon Hall of Bus?ksa Temple. The former is multiple clustered bracket building and the latter is column clustered bracket building. They have something in common and they have some differences in making the same hipped and gable roof. This study is on finding the noticeable points of difference and those reason. The results of this study are as follows : 1. At first, the two buildings are the same that both adopt ‘lever type’ as the protruding corners of eave rafters. 2. But the two buildings are different where the gable framework is located. The difference of gable location is caused by plan type, framework of building and so on. In conclusion, the constructuon method of hipped-and-gable roof is influenced by floor plan type, in particular column placement.
