Abstract |
Recently, the number of single-parent family has significantly increased due to the rapid growth of divorce rate. From the statistical data, the single-parent family is about 9% out of total household. Especially, single-mother family is nearly 80% of that. This fact has raised a great many critical social problems such as mental anguish, bringing-up children, and economic difficulties, etc. Now and after, it is quite necessary for us to provide improved welfare facilities for them in order to relieve and resolve these social problems. In this study, design guidelines of short-term residential facilities are suggested for single-mother family, and prototype of the facilities is developed primarily in terms of economy, functionality, and convenience to aid to stand on their own feet. The presented data is investigated through data reference research, in-depth interview, direct observation, and evaluation of the usage. The results of this research can be applied to development of welfare facilities for single-mother family and can be extended to the facilities for the single-person family. |
