Abstract |
In developed countries, many children's hospitals are being built to provide medical services and treatments to accomodate children's physical and psychological needs. However, in Korea, there are only five such hospitals with 100 or more beds; and objective, scientific color plan, which can give hope and enrich emotion, is poor. This study is conducted to suggest an effective color environment that can facilitate the treatment of diseases, the improvement of health, and the prevention of diseases. For the study, the interior colors of five children hospitals in Korea and Japan are analyzed. As color analytical tools, the most widely-used color system, NCS (Natural Color System), is used, and a comparative analysis is conducted on the colors after marking them in the color circle and color triangle. Also, NCS palettes software, Illustrator CS and Photoshop CS programs are used to mark the color scheme of hospitals under study. According to the theory of color harmony, the color of hospitals are objectively analyzed whether there is harmony in color . For the analysis, Faber Birren's theory of color harmony and Ostwald's theory of color harmony are used. Based on the results of research, a methodology of color plan for children's hospital is suggested, and the limitations of this study and a direction for future research are presented |
