Abstract Although the great findings on the history and identity of korean architecture has been achieved for last 5 decades, korean architecture is rarely paid attention in the global education. One of main reason must be the limited information and knowledge which are provided by English textbooks. This paper reviews the textbooks which are used in architectural education of United States, examining how the textbooks describe and evaluate on korean architecture. The results show that the distinctive features of korean architecture among East-asian society have been rarely introduced in English textbooks, what is worse, some of them give wrong informations which might bring the negative image. The conclusion suggests some ideas which will afford the new knowledge system on the history and cultural identity of korean architecture to the global society.
