Abstract |
Street and facade of buildings, typical urban environment, decides a quality of urban environment. Especially, among elevation element of private structure, signage is remarkably important element with uses of first floor of buildings to offer energy of urban activity. This study tries to bring up integrated design methods of signage considering physical character, environmental and economical aspects. Conclusions are as follows.First, after a consideration of physical environment - size, volume, color, quantity, light method, etc. ? signage need to be improved. Second, after a consideration of regulation related with signage is limited about size and quantity. However, it could be effective when regulation changed about volume or ratio of possession and expand items of that. Third, design guideline need to be classified regulations according to local features. Besides, design guideline must be planed not quantitative regulation but qualitative regulation on design aspect ? shape, style of type, color, material, harmony with structure. Last, examining about environmental and economical problems of flex sign, the most sign in urban space, it could be helpful to import and apply variety material and lighting methods as LED and neon. Hereafter, related studies are examined about improvement of regulations, established design guideline on local features and variety methods of material and lighting and introduction of total design guideline should define a street image and create a local identity. Finally, signage is helpful to ennoble a urban space. |
