Abstract This paper examines mechanical properties of concrete using high quality crushed sand based on the results of parametric study on the crushed sand concrete. Mock up specimens were prepared to study the properties of concrete depending on the strength level of concrete. According to test results, the use of crushed sand did not affect the qualities of concrete including fluidity, air content, setting time, compressive strength and compressive strength for coring sample. The use of crushed sand concrete (CS) had larger drying shrinkage than that of sea sand concrete(SS) slightly, which was negligible. According to restrained crack occurrence test, although CS specimen had larger strain than SS specimen, the time for crack initiation was delayed compared to that of SS specimen. Rebound number of P type and N type Schmidt hammer showed similar tendency with compressive strength. Based on the above results, it is confirmed that the use of high quality crushed sand and concrete using AE water reducing agent for crushed sand secures proper qualities in connection with physical and mechanical properties regardless of the strength level of concrete compared to sea sand concrete.
