Abstract |
The objective of this study is to analyze and to shed light on the evolutions of factors which structure urban fabric and housing block and their relations with production mechanisms of urban form. Our investigation is focused on three housing district projects entirely pieced together and based on the new ‘block conception’ in Parisian urban development zones (ZAC) : District of Bercy, Tolbiac and Massena. The analyse of the urban fabric composition's principle and of the architectural forms have been developed according to two main axes. The first axis is the concept element and project orientation on the pre-plan study phase in the urban district scale ; the second is architectural rules in the housing block scale. We investigated the designers’ theoretical and doctrinal thoughts on urban forms within the project design considering the complex logic of actors whose interests oppose all along the urban programme process, and the structural and practical consequences of these logics. Through an comparative analysis of various concepts and strategies of intervention for urban block formations, we understood the planning methods to interprete the site's historical urban trace and memory, new composition mechanism of urban form, the rational conception process and the procedural decision of the form, the differential design guideline from the urban development plan to the architectural rules' guidebook, etc. |
