Abstract |
Educational facilities have to provide healthier, more effective learning environments for various education contents and teaching aids. During the past decade, remarkable studies have indicated a correlation between the classrooms environmental condition and student performance. Green design features can improve indoor environmental qualities and be used for educational purposes. Therefore, this study aims to propose design strategies for sustainable schools and indoor environment improvement. Field surveys were conducted to evaluate indoor environment such as thermal, visual, acoustic comfort and indoor air quality in elementary schools in Jeju. Comfort issues of classrooms were also exploded and analyzed. Then main factors affecting indoor comfort and student performance identified. |
