Abstract |
This study is to understand the origins and spatial characteristics of urban houses in Jaipur, India. Since Jaipur is a planned city that absolute spatial concept of Mandala is strongly reflected, a city as well as a house is oriented to the ideal settlement. This study has two view points to understand the characteristics of Jaipur's urban houses. Firstly, it has analyzed the spatial structure of Jaipur's house, based on Indian own idealism. Secondly, it has analyzed the spatial characteristics of Jaipur's house, based on its origins. The purpose of this study can be summarized as followings. First is to find out the forces that form Jaipur's house, and how they are implemented physically. Second is to find out 'universality' and 'originality' that Jaipur's house has, within Indian whole dwelling culture. Third is to find out the way of house exists in urban context. |
