Abstract Recently, many researchers are using the commercial programs by analyzing the building thermal performance. But these programs are similar to a black box, so we have to comprehend these algorithms to verify the results. Also although we analysis a same building, we gain a different results with simulation methods. So we have to modeling and understand the exact characteristics of a building. Therefore, this study was focused on the simulation methods of the apartment using the TRNSYS 16 and we analyzed the thermal load patterns. The simulation results are as follows. Unit model method was limited to estimate the exact thermal performance with only changing the boundary conditions because the energy transfer was high among the house-holds in high-rise apartments. But in single house-hold, we found the fact that one zone model inserted the omitting internal wall was obtained the reliable results. In the simulation estimation on a multi-stories building, reference model method was more advisable to the unit model method, so the building have to be constructed the reference model, modeled the simplified plans and inserted one internal wall. After we are going to study the detailed analysis on the internal convective heat transfer coefficient and the energy transfer among the house-holds.
