Abstract In the Youngsanpo, the case study consider here, the width of road, street pattern and residential quarter organization of Japanese village during the colonial period of Korea has not been changed. On the other hand, the old town has been destroyed gradually the renovation and demolition due to change of life style. Based on field survey, questionnaire distributed to residents of the district in 2004 and registration for building, this study analyzes actual conditions of the townscape and the transformation of the townscape. The study examined the problems of conservation in the modern building district and the influence on the transformation of the townscape.
