As circulation of goods was increased in 18~19 centuries, the wealth began to centralize in the capital city, Hanyang. Moreover, as cultural exchange with the Qing Dynasty was increased, Hanyang became the center of van civilization. Gyeonghwasajok, resided in Hanyang in those centuries, accomplished the prime of civil culture. They were interested in antiques and flowering plants typically. According to then literatures such as the 『Yimwongyeongjeji』, Gyeonghwasajok's private garden had particular features. There were a garden to plant and appreciate floweringplants, a building to keep antiques and paintings, and a courtyard where to held Ahoi, the salon of cultural exchange. Kim Jo-sun's Okhosanbang is the representative example that reflected Gyeonghwasajok's private garden. Okhosanbang takes consensus on the description of 『Yimwongyeongjeji』in general. It demonstrates that Gyeonghwasajok's private garden had particular patterns and shared styles. This Study is expected to be the basis of the advanced study about civil culture in Hanyang. |
