Abstract This research focused on the urban-nightscape. Nightscape is the potential amenity unique to the urban area. In this research, the downtown nightscape of Kabuki-cho, Tokyo was chosen as the representative entertainment district of Japan in order to conduct the analysis over the color temperature and the illumination intensity of the street lightings, which largely influences the nightscape.Street lightings were investigated to clarify the relations between; 1.two census categories, illumination intensity and color temperature, 2.influence of each primary lighting (public lightings) and secondary lighting (commercial lightings) given to each statuses of categories.This research had pointed out the demand of comprehensive analysis over the nightscape by using variety of scales, not only the illumination intensity, but also another scales such as the color temperature, in order to create rich and unique urban- nightscape.
