| Abstract |
This study conducted a visual and perceptual evaluation of streetscape using previously selected pictures of streetscape(a stimulus) in Taegu in Korea and Munich in Germany in order to produce some solutions for improving the streetscape of city and thereby improve the quality of life for city-dwellers. Then, using Semantic Diferential Method, the psychological characteristics of the domestic and foreign streetscapes were analyzed, and through factor analysis of the epithets, the recognition characteristics of streetscape were identified. In addition, the physical characteristics of streetscape were divided as the morphological components and the exceptable components of the buildings, and the degree of satisfaction was investigated for each component in order to identify the components of streetscape that needs improvement. Based on the results, this study presented the solution for improvement that will reflect the opinions and preferences of the pedestrians when planning the streetscape. |
