Abstract This study examined the awareness and preference for silver town and what factors have influence on the needs for the facilities and services of silver town. 257 Busan residents over 40 years old were selected for the questionnaire and 225 data were analyzed by SPSS program-percentage, average, corelation and Anova-test analysis excluding 32 replies. The findings are the followings; 1)About half of the samples showed positive reaction in living in silver town; 2)The most preferred type of housing and location were villa/townhouse in countryside area. 50-100 households were most preferred as the size of the silver town and 20-29 pyung(66-95.7m2) preferred as the size of the apartment; 3)They wanted the silver town to provide with the multi-complex place including the optional facilities for visiting family as well as housing, leisure, medical and cultural facilities for the elderly; 4)They considered 0.5-1million won as appropriate monthly payment; 5)According to the monthly income and educational background, there were some significantly important differences in the needs for the facilities and services of silver town. Therefore, the silver town in Busan should be developed in various types considering these differences in the needs of Busan residents to increase the satisfaction level of the elderly who will live in.
