Abstract |
The purpose of this study is on developing technique and tool which children can participate in designing outdoor playground. For this, a workshop study which children participated on designing playground was done. The technique and tool used in this study was made with 1) chart of demanded playing behavior 2) chart of preferred playground types 3) playground-drawing 4) simulation of playground-model etc. and the subject of the survey was 3 kindergarten located in city area. The result of study is as follows. (1) Considering the seriousness and clearness in process of decision-making, creative thinking, and active, responsible attitude shown in the process of the workshop, it seemed possible for children to participate in designing process of children's facility. (2) The technique and tool shown in the study proved to be useful in future children-participated designing process of playground. (3) From demanded playing behavior(28) and preference in playground types, the adventurous play like maze, water, and tunnels were preferred to both boys and girls. Girls preferred calm, familiar, and safe playing behavior and play types such as drawing, swing, and seesaw, whereas boys preferred role-playing fireman, soccer, and making things which is more dynamic and creative playing behavior/playground types. (4) The preference shown in children tend to differ in each selected playgrounds. This signify that the concept of future playground plans should indicate children group's character and environmental features. |
