Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to evaluate quantitatively the influence of axial load ratio on the stub effect of concrete columns subjected to earthquake type loading. Four concrete columns(250㎜ x 250㎜) with stub were tested. Axial load ratio, one of the important parameters which affects the behavior of concrete column confined by lateral ties, was chosen as a main parameter. A test result showed that the increase of axial load ratio from 0.2 to 0.5 yielded an increase about 13% of stub effect, about 10% of lateral load and about 15% of moment enhancement ratio(Mmax/MACI.). As the axial load ratio increased, the length of plastic region and initial stiffness increased, but the drift ratio decreased. The proposed results for the quantitative estimation of stub effect reasonably corresponded with the results of former studies. |
