Abstract This study investigated setting time and strength development of concrete using mineral admixture as the fundamental study to control temperature crack caused by hydration heat difference and time between the upper and lower parts on mass concrete. For the experimental result, there was no influence on the setting time corresponding to the replacement ratio of mineral admixture when CKD was replaced in the range of 30%. However, it was confirmed that 2, 3, 1.5, and 3 hours retarded when FA 10 and 20%, FA 30%, BS 20 and 40%, and BS 60% were replaced. Accordingly, hydration heat difference and time method using mineral admixture could overcome till 3 hours hydration heat time caused by difference of placing time between the upper and lower parts. For the compressive strength, it was gradually decreased by increasing replacement ratio, however there is no remarkable change to compare with plane when CKD replaced 10%. On the other side, it was declined on FA and BS at early age, but it was increased as age goes by. In these results, the economic accomplishment and decline of the temperature crack were possible to control the heat of hydration caused by difference of placing time and replacement of mineral admixture.
