| Abstract |
Skilled-labor shortage has been a serious problem in construction industry. Recent advances in design and information technologies, combined with current skilled-labor shortage in construction industry have proven the use of prework to be more viable then ever. This paper details the benefit of prework focusing on its impact on construction workforce. The history and current stage of the practice of prework in both domestic construction industry and other advanced countries were identified, and the requirements for effective use of prework were identified. In conclusion, prework can reduce demand on construction site labor and bring major performance improvements. |
