| Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to analyse and evaluate “Urban Design Control System for Downtown Area" in SanFranscio, U.S.A. SanFranscio is one of advanced city in the field of urban design in U.S.A.. In SanFranscio, there are detailed urban design guidelines for Downtown, and various design-review system. They are included to building permission based on zoning system, office development control, open space review and streetscape review. In addition to these systems, there are special purpose review, such as historic buildings and districts, environment review and public arts review. As a conclusion, the experience of SanFranscio cases shows us the way how to control and what is important for urban design control in Downtown areas. There are various Urban design control systems depends on district's guidlines and complex-review system is a quite important to make it more flexible and efficient to control urban design in Downtown areas. |
