Abstract This study was to examine and analyze the space programming and organization of the Group-home for the aged with dementia through the cases of Korea and Japan in a city, to set up the elements of spacial composition, and to find the layout method of unit space. First, literature investigation led with method of research and set each partial by spatial constitutional factor of dementia facility. Second, site reply and interview of the facility management people and led and grasped the quality of plan collection and facility. Third, in order to grasp the territory by arrangement relationship of space the relationship of arrangement from drew a functional diagram and grasped. As a result, the form of the dementia old person group homes are classified independence style and establishment as an annex style, cluster style. The group home for old person with dementia which is in Korea the case which is established with most independence as the small-scale enterprise is established with the old person material tube, dementia medical treatment circle and etc. complex and is operated. The other side Japanese group-home is operated independently and the special care old person groove and is operated with the rehabilitation specialty facility for the dementia old person who is established as an annex. The elements of spacial composition were composed of residential, public, medical, management, and path. The area ratio of the unit space were residential 16.4-36.2%, public 19.8~31.4%, medical 2.5-8.7%, management 14.3-22.9%, and path 13.1-30.3%. In the arrangement of unit space, the area of office managements were arranged at the 1st floor, the area of facility management were arranged at the basement, public area were arranged at every floor adjacent to residential unit. Area of residential unit per man was Korea 4.6 - 8.2㎡(Mean 6.78㎡), Japan 7.8-16.5㎡(Mean 11.72㎡)
