Abstract The purposes of this study are to evaluate the pore distribution change of polymer cement mortar(PCM) by carbonation through the nitrogen adsorption method and to construct the requisite data base for expecting the life expectancy and the durability of concrete structures. The following conclusions were obtained from a series of experiments. The compressive strength and elastic modulus of PCMs decrease according to the increase of polymer to cement ratio. However, the tensile strength increases. PCMs have a high resistive properties against carbon dioxide diffusion. The change of pore distribution of PCM before-after carbonation can be evaluated quantitatively through the nitrogen adsorption method.
